Cookie & Data Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2025
Introduction
Welcome to The Tenant's Voice. This policy explains how we use technologies like your browser's local storage to provide our service while respecting your privacy. We do not use traditional tracking cookies, and we do not store your personal information on our servers.
What is Local Storage?
Local storage is a standard web technology that allows a website to store small amounts of information directly in your browser. We use it instead of traditional cookies for essential site functions. This information stays on your device and is not sent to our servers.
How We Use Local Storage
We use local storage for three essential functions:
- Chat History: To save your current conversation with our AI assistant, we store the chat messages in your browser's local storage. This lets you continue your session if you refresh the page. This data is deleted when you click "Clear Chat" or clear your browser data.
- Theme Preferences: We store your preferred theme (light or dark mode) so the website remembers your choice on your next visit.
- Consent Preference: When you accept our data policy, we store that choice so we don't show you the banner on every visit.
Third-Party Services & Data
To provide our service, we interact with a few secure third-party providers:
- Supabase Edge Functions: Your inputs are sent to a Supabase Edge Function to communicate with the AI model. To improve the service, anonymous prompt data may be stored for up to 30 days and then automatically deleted. This data is not linked to any personal identifiers.
- Postcodes.io: If you use the postcode lookup, your entry is sent to the Postcodes.io API to find your local council. This data is used only for the lookup and is not stored by us.
We have chosen these providers for their commitment to privacy and security. Their services are essential for the tool to function.
Your Control and Choices
You have full control over the data stored in your browser. You can view and clear your browser's local storage at any time through your browser's settings (usually under "Privacy" or "Application"). Please note that clearing this data will permanently delete your chat history and reset your theme preference.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and we encourage you to review it periodically.
